MARKHAM, ONTARIO—December 19, 2012—GE (NYSE: GE) announced the launch of its Packaged Solutions, providing a fully integrated, quickly deployable, modular set of solutions and services to improve the protection, control and automation of power system applications. Packaging solutions together provides utilities and industrial companies with the assortment of services needed to ensure a quicker, more efficient design of their protection and automation systems.

GE’s Packaged Solutions can integrate multiple critical, costly services solutions into one efficient package that includes engineering, design, manufacturing, assembly, wiring, testing and commissioning support for power generation, transmission and distribution applications. These solutions integrate seamlessly with multi-vendor and legacy protection relays and devices and enable easy expansion, installation and testing, along with flexibility in design, engineering, commissioning and upgrades throughout the life of a protection and control system.

A unique set of solutions can be designed and incorporated at any stage in the power distribution process; from power generation, transmission and distribution, to utilization and automation. In the power generation segment, the solutions offered in the Packaged Solutions include fully integrated sub-system solutions for the protection and control of generators ranging from tens of kilowatts to hundreds of megawatts in size. In the transmission segment, it offers pre-designed modular protection, control and automation solutions for transmission system assets such as transmission lines, bus-bars, large transformers and capacitor banks. When it comes to power distribution, GE’s Packaged Solutions offer expandable modular solutions and services for assets within the overall distribution system. These assets include distribution transformers, feeders, breakers and cap-banks, as well as assets outside of the ‘substation fence’ (reclosers and switches).

The solutions offered don’t stop once the power has been distributed, they also can provide power consumers such as industrial clients with a wide variety of modular metering, automation, industrial process protection and control solutions.
