GE Commits to Help Connect Healthcare Ecosystem in Greater China
Company Delivers Vision for China eHealth Infrastructure, Key Regional Partnership at HIMSS AsiaPac10
BEIJING – May 27, 2010 – At the HIMSS AsiaPac10 meetings in Beijing this week, GE Healthcare is launching its vision for improved healthcare through standards-based connectivity of the healthcare delivery ecosystem.
At a sponsored session, GE Healthcare experts will outline pragmatic approaches to implement a connected health information exchange infrastructure that improves the quality of care, lowers costs, and increases healthcare access for China’s population. GE Healthcare will showcase solutions for robust community connections, collaborative workflows, advanced performance features, and clinical reporting capabilities.
GE unveiled its Health Information Exchange (HIE) 3.0 infrastructure, including a Master Patient Index (MPI), secure standards-based document exchange (via IHE XDS protocols) and intuitive clinical viewer. This infrastructure supports efficient matching of patient records gathered from multiple care locations, and ensures that only appropriate records are matched and shared across organizations.
“Connectivity of the healthcare ecosystem is a solid foundation to help transform the delivery of care in the positive direction, towards higher quality, lower costs, and improved access,” said Earl Jones, senior vice president and general manager of GE Healthcare’s Global eHealth Solutions business. “We are actively addressing some of the most critical challenges to modern healthcare and we are pleased to offer our technology and expertise to the people of China.”
GE announced the intention to partner with ENN Group, recognized as China’s “clean energy leader” and provider of infrastructure solutions delivering natural gas to more than 40 million people in nearly 70 cities across the country to further develop healthcare IT solutions in China.
Lu Junzhen, CEO of XinBoZhuoChang Technology (Beijing) Company (ENN) remarked, "We are very honored to work closely with GE Healthcare on the e-healthcare infrastructure establishment in China.
GE Healthcare's leading edge, innovative solutions have greatly established a secure, stable performance of a robust e-healthcare platform, with great connectivity and exchange of data. This collaboration with GE will set a milestone for a successful regional healthcare ecosystem in China.
GE made these announcements during its sponsored session at the conference. The session featured thought leaders exploring various approaches to a strong, sustainable electronic health record (EHR) infrastructure and its ability to provide a platform capable of hosting advanced applications that embody best practice clinical guidelines, enabling more effective chronic and acute state disease management. The session will also discuss examples of demonstrated approaches to help deliver higher quality of care at a lower cost to all.
