Brussels, 27 August 2009: Emaar, The Economic City (Emaar.E.C), the Tadawul-listed company developing King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), has joined hands with GE Security, Inc., a business of GE Enterprise Solutions (NYSE: GE), for implementing state-of-the-art security solutions in the KAEC Business Park.

A cluster of five commercial buildings situated within Bay La Sun Village, the first fully integrated community in KAEC, the Business Park is currently nearing completion. One building is exclusive for the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA), the prime facilitator of KAEC. Another building will be partially used for the office of Emaar.E.C.

GE Security provides fire detection, access control and video surveillance for the Business Park, and installation work is underway in two buildings. GE Security’s modern access control system featuring 27 card readers based on its advanced ATS solution has already been installed. A video surveillance system with over 50 cameras – fixed and hi-speed dome – has also been installed. The cameras are connected to digital recorders that enable automatic storage of images.

Mr Fahd Al-Rasheed, Board Member and Chief Executive Officer, Emaar.E.C said: “KAEC is implementing the highest standards in all aspects of its development. Security is one of the key features and requirements for an integrated city, and especially for the Business Park. GE Security, as a world leader in security solutions, brings in advanced technologies to KAEC.”

He added: “Work on two buildings of the Business Park is nearing completion for hand-over of offices shortly. When completed, the two buildings will offer a fully secure work environment, and feature the latest in amenities.”

Jurgen Timperman, Regional General Manager Middle East and Africa, GE Security EMEA said: “We implement our world-class security and life safety solutions to help meet KAEC’s needs. GE Security has an established presence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and is pleased to be associated with the Emaar.E.C for this remarkable project.”

GE Security has provided the two main buildings of the Business Park with smoke detectors connected to fire control panels that help to ensure a safe environment. Through the effective integration, any smoke incident that could be triggered is registered on camera for swift action.

The KAEC Business Park spreads over an area of over 258,000 sq m, and features modern amenities including hi-speed internet and telecom connectivity and high-quality finishes. Facilities include a day-care centre, retail outlets and restaurants.

KAEC spreads over 168 million sq m on the Red Sea coast and is the single largest private sector project in the region. It has six components: The Sea Port, Industrial Zone, Central Business District, Residential Communities, Educational Zone and Resort Cove. Emaar.E.C has launched the first phase comprising the Sea Port, Industrial Zone, Residential Communities and Resort Cove to overwhelming investor response. Work is progressing as per schedule for hand over of homes, offices and industrial plots this year.
